Bonjour,
J’ai questionné Roger KITCHEN l’an dernier. Voici sa réponse :
REPAIR
Elbow joint tight
• sand the beam upright down the length of the split
• lay a length (about a meter) 300gram strip of carbon woven cloth about 100mm wide down on a flat surface. The flat surface should be covered with packaging tape to stop resin soaking in. Brush the epoxy resin onto the cloth so it just fills the weave.
• use a carbon cloth with a stitched edge to made it neater and more manageable
• wrap the strip of cloth around the split beam overlapping the previous layer by 50mm
• use a strip of PEEL PLY (non stick polyester cloth) to wrap tightly around the carbon cloth. The resin will soak through the cloth and give the carbon a very even finish which will look great with a quick sand when the peel ply is pulled off when the resin goes off.
Elbow joint loose
• sand back the elbow 100mm along the horizontal beam elbow and down the vertical beam down covering the split. The sanded area should look like a bandaged knee after you damaged your knee cap
• the sanding should remove the gel coat on the elbow.
• the repair should be like the above but I would use narrow strips of carbon cloth about 50mm wide again with stitched edges. Just keep wrapping until you have about 6 layers thick around the elbow but only about 22-3 layers down the vertical split.
• if you use 50mm strips of peel ply tightly wrapped around the repair with many layers the final result will be easy to sand once the peel ply is removed.
)
A plouf. Arnaud#218
